Massage has a huge number of benefits to all the bodies systems. By massaging and relaxing specific muscles there is a knock on effect to other parts of the body. Massage will also bring about  relaxation, bringing a state of homeostatsis, a place of balance where the body can repair and renew.

Through over use and also through stress muscles can stay in a contracted state. This causes imbalance in the body. Tight muscles will pull posture out of alignment and can restrict bloodflow  leading to headaches and/or cramps.

Two varieties of massage are available:

Massage for Stress/Relaxation:

This is a holistic massage which offers a softer, more relaxing session. Although it should be noted that where deep tissue massage is required (knotted or tense muscles) the massage can be more vigourous. Remember that each session will be tailored to suit the needs of you as an individual.

Remedial/Sports Massage:

This type of massage is specific for a particular muscle group. The session is much more intense and focuses on a specific area(s) where a pain or an injury may have occurred. Sometimes athletic people prefer this form of massage to the holistic type. It is all a question of preference.
